چکیده

Adhesively bonding fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) plates have been a mainstream method for strengthening civil engineering structures. The effectiveness of is dependent on the performance adhesive layer. This study examines time-temperature viscoelasticity typical structural epoxy and develops linear viscoelastic material model that can be used numerical analysis. An accelerated test involving dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) superposition principle (TTSP) were to characterise adhesive. corresponding limitations this discussed, including decomposition effect, nonlinear viscoelasticity, applicability TTSP, further curing sample. long-term behaviour single lap-shear FRP-to-steel joint found slightly warmer temperature (30 °C study) beneficial bonded as it reduce concentrated shear stress with negligible increase in strain. However, higher (50 near adhesive’s glass transition (Tg) could detrimental lead significant strain within first year service life.

A New Design Model for Adhesive Joints Used to Bond Frp Laminates to Steel Beams

The strengthening and repair of existing structures using bonded carbon fiber reinforced polymer, CFRP, laminates has attracted a great deal of attention in the past two decades. Investigations clearly indicate the great potential of this method for restoring the capacity of corroded steel beams and improving their fatigue life. One important issue regarding the use of this technique in strengt...

Effect of Surface Preparation on the Strength of FRP-to-Mild Steel and FRP-to-Stainless Steel Joints

A detailed understanding of the strength and behaviour of the bond between fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites to metals is an ongoing field of research. The many different geometrical and material parameters make for extensive research demands. This paper in turn reports a series of tests on the shear strength and behaviour of FRP-to metal joints in which the main test parameters, which ...

Fatigue behaviour of composite adhesive lap joints

This paper is concerned with a fatigue study of composite adhesive lap joints produced from a bi-directional woven E-glass fibres and polypropylene. The adhesive used was a Bostik 7452 (Rubber & Plastics Grade) ethyl cyanoacrylate type. The effects of layer orientation, lap joint length and water immersion on the fatigue behaviour were studied. The specimens were immersed in water during period...
